Less than a week ago one of our gliders had a small bite on her shoulder, requiring us to take her to the vet for some medical care.
We were asked if anything had changed in the colony and we couldn't think of anything, until it dawned on us to check the heat cycle tracking. We put two and two together, which just happened to match around the same time another female in the colony was in heat โ or potentially could have been.
We weren't 100% sure if this was the cause of the bite. Maybe one female stepped inches away from another during her cycle, but understanding our furry flying critters is often a challenge. I hope this is something people can use to their advantage. I know with Astrid I'll be a little more cautious, since she could be the reason โ there are only 2 females and one neutered male in that particular colony.
